About
Our Coffee

El Tucan Estate Coffee
Once our coffee has been harvested
and we have purchased premium coffee from other local farms, it is exported
to the USA. We fresh roast the coffee as orders are placed. The coffee
is roasted four different ways. From medium to very dark, each roast has
its own distinct flavor and aroma.
Roasts
Full City Roast
Our lightest roast, this deliciously
mellow coffee has a fresh full body and a stimulating aroma. Its
sophisticated enough to be served with an elegant meal and mild enough
to drink every morning.
Vienna Roast
Vienna Roast performs a delicate
balancing act between Full City Roast and French Roast. The sweet bouquet
generates a fine cup with its round acidity and rich coffee character.
French Roast
Roasted long enough to bring
the natural oil of the coffee to the surface of the bean and is just a
shade or so lighter than our Italian Espresso Roast. Its dark richness
has a very balanced full body coffee flavor.
Italian Espresso Roast
The darkest of our four roasts,
its hearty coffee flavor is bold and robust, but always smooth and never
bitter. Not only can you enjoy it as a great espresso, but this roast
also makes a terrific pot of coffee to be enjoyed cup after cup.
Coffee
Blends
We take our roasts and mix
them together in our own secret recipes, creating four unique blends that
will satisfy anybodys quest for a great cup of coffee.
Anastacio's Blend (aka: Grandpas Blend)
Named in honor of Armandos grandfather, this blend is a unique combination
of roasts that offers a range of flavors from the mild mellow acidity
of our Full City Roast, to the dark full body quality of French Roast.
Its crisp and zesty on one hand, while
maintaining a rich, dark, smooth and satisfying coffee taste
on the other.
La Cuesta Blend
We refer to La Cuesta Blend
as our full spectrum blend. All of our roasts are included in this pleasing
combination. Coffee lovers have the opportunity to experience and enjoy
a broad range of delightful aromas and flavors.
Curt's Special Blend
The secret combination of roasts
in Curts Special Blend creates a deliciously dark, full body flavor
with just a touch of tangy zing. My friend, Curt, asked for something
special, so I put this mixture together and we put it to the test. It
passed the test so well, that we added it to our list of blends.
Rio Blanco Blend
This is our special mixture
of dark roasts. The variety of flavors in this blend range from the sweet
aromatic essence of our Vienna Roast to the dark bold richness of our
Italian Espresso Roast. You will experience a coffee with a smooth rich
taste and body to spare.
Decaf
Coffee
Since we are still a little company,
and it requires major expenditures to have coffee
decaffeinated, we have decided, for now, to purchase a high
quality decaf from our neighboring country to the
north.
Guatemala Decaf
This great coffee has been
decaffeinated by the swiss water process method so you don't
have to worry about chemicals in your coffee. We roast it
just long enough and dark enough to bring out the full
coffee taste.
Our
Green Coffee
We offer a selection of green
coffees from Honduras in varying degrees of quality and quantity. In Honduras,
coffees are categorized according to their elevation and preparation.
Coffees grown at 1100+ meters above sea level are considered Strictly
High Grown (SHG) and between 900 and 1100 meters the coffee is
classified as High Grown (HG). The higher the coffee is grown,
the better the quality and taste. Coffee that is thoroughly sorted, removing
the majority of imperfections is known as European preparation (EP).
Coffee not sorted as well is considered US preparation. All of the coffees
we offer are EP unless our customer prefers a lesser quality coffee. We
classify coffees grown on one farm and not mixed with others as estate
coffee. The coffees we offer will be shade grown using sustainable methods
without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fungicides.
The following is a list of
our coffee classifications:
| El Bosque:
Estate SHG EP |
La Oropendula:
Estate HG EP |
| Rio Verde:
SHG EP |
Del Pueblo:
HG E |
